I have yet to hear
any negative comments from the field on your product. As you
can imagine with the nature of your product, it is the unsung hero
of the operation. It fights the battle behind the scenes and they
only time people bring it up is if it had a catastrophic failure…
and to the best of my knowledge we have had none of those!
We have had no recent design activities for active vehicle barriers
so no real opportunities to engage your product in this application.
The one thing that did surprise me greatly during our communication
with the barrier manufacturers is the lack of SPD in their standard
package. For a device that lives outside in some of the worst
environments on the planet, one would think that they would do
everything possible to make it as robust as possible… especially
since this is classified as a life safety device… it has the ability
to protect life but when it fails it has the capability of killing
someone. To me that means boot straps and suspenders to make
sure it does not fail.
Again, I would recommend to continue working with the barrier
manufacturers, to try and get them to offer SPDs as a standard
installed feature. It adds minimal cost to the system and can
dramatically increase system reliability. If the barriers ever fall
under a UL category that may be a good opportunity to leverage the
standard to include SPDs.
If you have a new catalog, I would
not mind getting a copy of that for my library.
Thank you and have a good day.
